Happy
Thanksgiving... Happy Holidays...
Merry Christmas...
We hope and pray that everyone has a
safe and happy Holiday Season
The StarBot Calendar is now online
for everyone to check out. The
website is www.starbotinc.com/calendar.html. As you will be able
to see we are completely revamping
the StarBot Website. We are open to
suggestions as to what everyone
would like to see on the website.
Light Spider Classes - There will be
three classes for Light Spiders,
Dec. 16, 19 and 20. In order to be a
part of this special and fun filled
class you HAVE to register with Bill
by December 8th so he has time to
order the supplies. Special discount
to StarBot students.
"Rumble at the Rock", a BOTSIQ
event, will take place Saturday,
December 13, 2008 in Plymouth,
Massachusetts. Last year "Rumble at
the Rock" was a very exciting event
for 15 pound robots. All the teams
that went last year had a great
time. There is a lot of history in
that part of the country and some of
us were able to experience COLD
weather for the first time.
Many local teams are trying to get
their robots ready for the trip to
Plymouth. Please let Bill know by
email as to needed building time.
Bill, Mr. C and Nola will be
out-of-town in Plymouth, Ma. from
Thursday, December 11, 2008 to
Sunday, December 14, 2008. Marc
Davits, Danny Espinosa and Victor
Soto will be taking over some of the
StarBot Classes while Bill is out.
"The Children's Trust" StarBot has
qualified for a third grant with
"The Children's Trust" of Miami-Dade
County (http://www.thechildrenstrust.org/).
Through this grant we were able to
introduce many young people here in
Miami to robotics and engineering
with hands-on classes and projects.
We wish to thank all the students
and parents that contributed their
time and assistance in completing
the first two grants. Many students
volunteered their time in helping to
build robots with student groups
from around the county. Students
wishing to earn community service
hours, please email Bill or Nola for
an application and more information.
Robot Competitions - Miami Dade
County Youth Fair will be holding
two robot competitions the weekend
of March 28 & 29, 2009. The Task
Oriented Competition will be held
Saturday and the 15 pound
Competition will be held Sunday the
29th. More information will be
available by December 15th.
Bots IQ has announced the National
Competition for high school and
college teams. The Competition will
take place in San Francisco at the
same time as BattleBots films its
next television show. All 120 pound
robots will compete under BattleBots.
Go to www.battlebots.com for more
information, rules and regulations.
The Task Oriented Game will be the
same as at the Youth Fair, and the
15 pound rules will be the same as
always. Go to www.botsiq.org for
more information.
